Senior Leaders 2013

HEAD GIRL - Abbe Meads

Kia ora girls, my name is Abbe Meads and I feel very privileged and incredibly proud to be your Head Girl for 2013. It is a role I have aspired to since year nine, and alongside my deputy head girls, Nicole and Kelly, I am hoping to meet and exceed all the expectations that being a leader brings. This year my aim is to increase school pride in all year levels. I plan to do this by supporting and growing student involvement in extracurricular activities, and further developing and establishing the teina (younger sister) tuakana (older sister) relationships within Hamilton Girls’ High School. I would also like to celebrate the remarkable achievements, no matter how big or small, of our girls and continue to encourage personal excellence in all aspects of school life. I believe communication is essential and I aim to improve and strengthen this between students and staff. I’m here for you girls. If you have any ideas about how to make our school environment an even better place, always feel free to approach me and have a chat about your suggestions. I believe by helping each other out and being involved, as students we have the power to reach all our goals this year. 2013 is going to be very challenging, but I am looking forward to meeting new people, to us all working as a team to make a difference at HGHS, and giving back to the school that has offered me so much. Good luck to you all, aim high and achieve higher but most importantly enjoy being a Girls’ High girl.  “Regardless of differences, we strive shoulder to shoulder. Teamwork can be summed up in five short words - We believe in each other.” Unknown

DEPUTY HEAD GIRL - Kelly Le Quesne

My name is Kelly Le Quesne and I am so proud and privileged to be one of your Deputy Head Girls for 2013! I am absolutely thrilled to be a part of the wonderful group of Senior Leaders that we have this year and can’t wait to start building on all of our (including yours) brilliant ideas and experiences to make for an exciting year. Goals tend to draw the best out of life. They give you a motive to get up and out of bed in the morning and give you a reason to keep going all day. My goal this year is for us to embrace our Hamilton Girls’ High School spirit. I would love to see all of the girls getting involved in school life, whether it is in house events, sports or councils. I think there are so many opportunities at our school that you girls should step out of your comfort zones and try something that challenges you on a personal level. Remember, you miss 100% of the shots you never take. Set your goals high this year even if it’s just to test how far you can push yourself. I hope you all have a great year and please don’t hesitate to come up and say hello if you see me.

DEPUTY HEAD GIRL - Nicole Porima

Kia Ora, I am Nicole Porima and have the absolute privilege of being one of Hamilton Girls' High School’s Deputy Head Girls, for 2013. I am forever thankful to everyone who has helped me get here and I cannot wait to play my part in guiding my sisters through the year ahead.  My goals for the year in this role, involve listening to all voices, being approachable and making positive changes that will increase school pride among us! My good friend Wikipedia defines leadership as, “A process by which a person influences others to accomplish an objective”. I hope to be that positive influence to my sisters and guide them through the busy year we have ahead. I am extremely excited about becoming more involved with all aspects of school life including service, sports and arts activities. I hope to see all my fellow peers getting in and amongst these endless opportunities too! To my sisters of our school- Please come and say hello to me or voice your opinion, I am only too happy to listen.  Have a brilliant year girls!
