Entry Requirement:   14 NCEA level One Science/Biology/Chemistry achievement Standard credits. These must include:

  • Achievement Standard Science 1.6 (90191) describe aspects of physics AND
  • 13 NCEA Level One Mathematics achievement standard credits OR HOD/TIC approval

Course Outline:  Physics is the study of natural phenomena, physical things that are encountered in everyday living.  Topics covered include relationships between physical quantities, light and waves, mechanics, radioactivity and electricity.  A large component of the work is based on practical laboratory work.  This course is composed of a combination of internally and externally assessed standards.
