Course Outline:   This is the first part of the National Certificate in Tourism and Travel Introductory Skills, the second part being offered at Year 13. This course gives students skills that they could use in a Tourism based career and can be used as a prerequisite for tertiary based courses.  They study New Zealand and World tourism, history and jobs in tourism.  They learn basic computer skills and communication skills that would be used in the tourism industry. The work is assessed using Unit Standards and there are two compulsory field trips, one to tourist sites in Rotorua, the other to Waitomo.

This course is useful for anyone who is interested in a career in the travel or tourism industry or is curious about finding out more about New Zealand, world tourist sites and travel.

Cost:  $90.00 (approximately) for field trips.
          $10.00 for print resources and materials.
