Arts education is not only for students planning to further their studies at a tertiary level, but is for anybody who is interested in being an entrepreneurial and creative thinker. The Visual Arts is an exciting and vibrant environment for our students. We respect and nurture students of all cultures and encourage them to explore their identity through the expression of art making.
Junior art covers a variety of areas such as drawing, painting, printmaking, three-dimensional work and design. This scaffolds our students into studying Art at NCEA levels in the senior school.
Level 1 Art is the foundation for all senior specialist Art programmes. At this level, study is broad-based, covering drawing, painting, printmaking and design processes. These areas of study are linked thematically and are a combination of technique, practice and theory. This enables students to explore, analyse and think critically.
The facilities available include a lighting studio, computer lab, senior painting studios and printing facilities.
All courses at Level are University approved and will allow students to gain academic endorsements as well as enter Scholarship. Art can lead to a diverse range of careers, from graphic design and fine art through to architecture, photography, animation, television and web design.
