Painting

Level 2

This course introduces students to various conventions of Painting and allows for specialisation influenced by contemporary art. There is an emphasis on both literacy and painting practice using a variety of media and techniques both traditional and digital. The programme places emphasis on critical thinking in developing a body of work.

Level 3

This course requires learners to use research and drawing to systematically and critically analyse the relationships between a range and depth of ideas related to Painting. The programme places emphasis on developing critical facility and the confidence, skills and understanding required in producing original work. Students will use a variety of processes, materials and techniques both traditional and digital. Learners demonstrating capabilities in these areas at an early stage will be encouraged to enter the Scholarship examinations.
