Within the overall structure of Hamilton Girls’ High School, the Board of Trustees has responsibility for overall financial management and for long-term strategic planning. The Board also develops and reviews school policies, not only to ensure compliance with Ministry of Education requirements, but to provide a framework for school operations which ensures safety, equity, transparency and accountability.

It is an honour and privilege to accept the position of co-opted member to the HGHS Board of Trustees. As an experienced board member, I bring extensive governance knowledge and varied skills to support the vision, goals, and strategies of Hamilton Girls High School ensuring a positive and inclusive environment to achieve equitable and excellent outcomes for all students.

Shane has 3 daughters at our school and is an educationalist by career.
He has worked as a teacher, lecturer and runs his own education consultancy. His spare time is spent in Kawhia relaxing. He enjoys all sports and loves to travel. He has served on school boards before and is a commissioner for schools. his favourite number is 9, favourite takeaway is butter chicken and any music by Elvis is always popular.
I bring to the Board several years of governance and leadership roles in education.
I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the HGHS community on the Board and believe every student should feel personal success through their academic, sporting or cultural achievements.
The board is committed to effective and efficient meetings that are focused at a governance level and provide the information the board needs to be assured that all policies, plans and processes are being implemented and progressing as planned.
