Hostel

Boarding Supervisor (Nights) – Sonninghill Hostel

We are looking for a positive, committed Boarding Supervisor (Nights) to support young women overnight at Sonninghill Hostel. Working with the Director of Boarding, you will be part of a dynamic team that maintains this ‘home away from home’ for the 136 young women aged between 12 and 18 years who attend Hamilton Girls High School. 

You will provide exceptional pastoral care to the girls, ensuring orderliness and safety at all times. The role also includes administration support, housekeeping and domestic services associated with the running of the Boarding House. The hours will be:

Monday
(12am-6am) – 6hrs
Thursday
(10pm-12am) – 2hrs
Friday
(12am-6am, 10pm-12am) – 8hrs
Saturday
(12am-6.30am, 10pm-12am) – 8.5hrs
Sunday
(12am-6.30am, 10pm-12am) – 8.5hrs

This position is term time only, and excluding Set Leave weekends.

The successful applicant will have:

  • a current first aid certificate,
  • a full, clean driver’s licence,
  • excellent interpersonal and communication skills, 
  • the ability to work as part of a team and independently, 
  • flexibility and the ability to relate to adolescent girls and their families, 
  • organisational, time management, administrations and IT skills, 
  • a calm persona and ability to support students overnight as needed,
  • the ability to apply Hostel procedures consistently to ensure orderliness and safety at all times,
  • a keen awareness and sensitivity towards the pastoral care needs of the 136 young women who board at Sonninghill Hostel.

Sonninghill Hostel is always on the lookout for casual staff to join our team! As a Boarding Assistant, you’ll be part of a supportive and friendly team, helping ensure our hostel runs smoothly while providing a safe and welcoming environment for our students.
