Having two daughters attending Hamilton Girls’ High School, I have a personal investment in ensuring it’s the best it can be for our students and community. I enjoy asking good questions and working through complex issues – particularly around finances and strategy – to help make sound decisions. I’m here to support our leadership team and ensure we’re staying focused on what matters most for our girls.

Kia ora, I’m Sarah Sayer, Head of the Social Science Faculty at our kura and a busy mum of two boys. I have taught at HGHS for 21 years and am passionate about empowering students, fostering critical thinking, and supporting wellbeing. I look forward to contributing my experience and perspective to the Board of Trustees.

Student Representative

As someone who is actively involved in our school community through committees like Math, GATE, Multicultural, and Breakfast Club, I’m part of the premier debating team, the IGNITE mentoring programme, and recently attended the Waikato Model UN. I believe a strong student voice starts with knowing the school well, which is why I make it a priority to connect with different groups and activities. Alongside my school commitments, I’ve also contributed to the wider community as a volunteer, completing over 200 hours of volunteering, and worked with the city council during the recent election. I applied to be the Student Representative because I want to see how our school works behind the scenes and get more involved in making things better for everyone. I’m looking forward to gaining new experiences, building new skills and helping bring student perspective to the board.

BOARD MEETINGS
