Fees, Uniform & Expectations of Behaviour

Uniform

All students must wear the Hamilton Girls’ High School uniform correctly and with pride. This means getting the small things right every day — for example, ties tied and worn properly, and sandal backs kept up at all times.

Our uniform expectations are based on integrity, identity, and pride. We ask for your support in making sure your daughter comes to school in the correct uniform each day.

The school uniform shop is managed and operated by UNIFORM GROUP, under their retail brand THE U SHOP. The International Student Staff and homestay families will help long term students purchase their uniform.

Uniform Expectations and Requirements

The appearance of our young women is an important part of school life. It helps us set and keep high standards. All students must wear the Hamilton Girls’ High School uniform correctly and with pride. This includes making sure the small details are right — for example, ties tied and worn the correct way, and sandal backs kept up at all times.

Civvies Days Dress Code
(non-uniform days) 

On Civvies Days, students must wear appropriate clothing. It is not appropriate to wear:

  • very short skirts
  • low necklines
  • bare midriffs


T-shirt graphics must not promote drugs or alcohol and must not include offensive words or images.

Jewellery, Make-Up
and Hair

  • A wristwatch may be worn.
  • Two sets of simple studs or sleepers may be worn in the ears only.
  • Taonga may be worn.
  • One chain or pendant may be worn around the neck, but it must be tucked into the shirt and not visible.
  • Hair may be coloured in natural tones only.
  • Hair ties must be black, white, or maroon.
  • No other jewellery is allowed. This includes rings, bracelets, and anklets.
  • No make-up is permitted.
  • Finger and toenail polish are not permitted.

Hamilton Girls’ High School has established within this document our rules and expected standards for conduct. It makes clear the behaviour we expect of ourselves and what we will and will not tolerate. Where a conduct matter may require any further clarification, the School has the final say as to the specifics of its regulations and what consequences may result from breaches of our code.

Parents are asked to support these rules and students are required to uphold the expected standards of dress and behaviour.
